AAUW-Oak Ridge was organized in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, in 1951 and has operated continuously since that time.  Males began to join in the 1990’s.  Students were also welcomed and have reduced-cost membership dues.

Mission:  AAUW advances equity for women and girls through advocacy, education, and research.

Purpose:  AAUW promotes equity for women, lifelong education, and positive societal change.

Membership:  AAUW values and seeks a diverse membership.  There shall be no barriers to full participation on the basis of gender, race, creed, age, sexual orientation, national origin, or disability.
